Reasons why you should focus on your metabolic health

When I started my healthy lifestyle journey, I constantly felt bloated, had heart burns and was always hungry.  I started to lose body confidence and did not want to go out.  I desperately wanted to feel healthier than I was.  I was in my early 40s and was very unfit.  Today is a different story.  After 15 years, I now feel fitter and healthier than I was then.

I now understand that, after studying nutrition and helping a lot of ladies feel better about their health and getting results, I know that looking after the long-term metabolic health is more important than yoyo dieting.

Women especially, lose about half a pound of muscle per year starting around the age of 40, and their metabolism gets slower. These changes can make losing weight more difficult and increase the risk of metabolic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, kidney disease, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

After 40, hormone levels such as oestrogen drop, which causes insulin (hormone that helps your body use sugar) to rise. Thyroid levels also go down. This combination makes women hungrier, and they end up eating more and burning fewer calories.  Much of the weight gain occurs around the belly.

This is where you will benefit from my 8 week nutrition programme, to help motivate and help you to improve your metabolic health, through meal plans and recipes, nutrition tips, exercises on demand, mindset and menopause support.

It is not only going to help you get results, for example shape up or tone, reduce the belly, if that’s your goal, but also help reduce your visceral fat and other body composition markers.

That time of year to boost your results…

Last week saw the restart of our friendly group exercise sessions (fitcamp Kettering) with a difference!

Socially distanced Fitcamp! Having fun, keeping fit whilst staying safe!

As the only centre in Northamptonshire for delivering a community workout that encompasses high intensity interval resistance training for all levels, works on the overall body and strengthens the core, we were happy to get going again! We engage muscles you’ve probably not used in a long time !!

Although it felt a little strange with safety procedures in place, it was amazing how many past participants got back into the swing of it.

It’s all about the community. You also get nutrition support. Anybody can do it, whatever level you’re at. You only need to commit to the consistency and you’ll soon feel fitter again.

We still have a few more spaces available, however places are limited. You may , call us to reserve your place on 07725 685090 or secure your place below. Sessions are on Mondays at 6 30pm.

The ups and downs of my 90 day challenge…

This was my second wave of #thesixpackrevolution and it started in January. I was committed to sticking to plan. This time I felt much stronger and was ready to face the burpees!!

I knew it would not be easy though because there was a birthday and a couple of celebrations to add to the mix. Imagine being on holiday and being a total teetotaler! I was also in Italy where I would normally succumb to at least one or two delicious pasta dishes and melt in your mouth pizzas! Indeed I was told that Naples makes one of the best pizzas and I would be mad not to try them!

That beautiful holiday was one of my biggest temptations ever. We nevertheless enjoyed it unscathed! It helped that the accommodation was self catering and indeed, it was part of the masterplan, so that I could prepare my delicious, quick and healthy snacks. Eggs, chicken, fish, cottage cheese, olives and vegetables were easy to obtain from a supermarket nearby.

After all this was my lifestyle and I was determined not to let anything ruin my challenge. Breakfast and lunch were sorted as I had my Herbalife with me – Life saver!

Dinners were easier than I thought. The highlight of my day was to search for restaurants that made simple grilled chicken or fish and side veg. No desert for me but then I knew I would have meal number 6 back at the apartment. My husband as usual was very supportive and did not offer me wine or prossecco!

The workouts were fun and easy to do too! I remember doing the abs, daily squats and press ups and Spartan bodyweight challenge twice in our apartment in Sorrento and once at the gym in our Naples hotel.

So anyway after holidays, we came home and was faced with more celebrations when our daughter arrived home after a long trip! But again I put my lean team mentality cap back on and managed it. Meal prepping and freezer stocking up meant no room for temptations. On the night when we went out, I picked a delicious Thai seabass steamed dish with ginger and veg.

So all in all, I would say the most challenging wave for me but it was thrilling at the same time. There were not going to be any excuses. I was determined to go around and hop over the obstacles, as Scotty would say.

So to me, having a fairly high social life means I need my 90 Day Challenges to keep me in check. Here is to my next Challenge to start in May and I cannot wait. Join me….. Lets do it!

My journey on the six pack challenge so far!

If anyone asked me how it’s going so far, I would simply say there has never been a dull moment…. Honestly, I am on my second wave of the Six Pack Revolution and it’s been exhilarating to say the least.  Well, my first wave, which started back in September 2017 was over before I knew it.  There was more to pack in my day to ensure I completed it successfully.  By December, I had done it and got the tee shirt as they say.  The outcome? SIMPLY BRILLIANT AND SO MUCH FUN!!!  This was my final result on the top far left.

Yes I got a 2-pack at the end of the first wave, BUT I would also say I got a much flatter belly and a feeling that my  health and fitness levels had gone up a notch.  For me, it was more about a bit more of accountability to help me feel a bit of a difference.  Yes, we all go through times when we need a little helping hand.

I started my second wave on the Six Pack Challenge  in January 2018.  So far so good…I achieved a pb at the park run 33.43 in mid February! It was 45.05 when I first started park run last February!! Thanks to all in my Eat Clean and Fitcamp community for their support as well!!

I feel incredible and ready to support more people to feel the same. Never say never! I believe age is not an issue.  Irrespective of your age, you too can improve your fitness and lifestyle, feel the energy and get that body you so deserve if you want it.

The next Wave is in May. Why not join me. Take a look here http://thesixpackrevolution.com/?ref=200
